Been through this, I worked long hours and I don't regret that but totally agree with you!

I would say if one wants to overcome workaholism, they must know these things:

1. The right way to do a job is to do it within 8 hours.

2. If you are getting overworked it is your superior's fault too. (It can be that you are doing more because you lack competency but because you have the dedication you must be managed well!)

3. If you are not able to break this cycle of long working hours, consider changing your job or role .

I have been a workaholic for 8 years before I changed myself. And what I have understood is If one employee is overworked now, a bigger problem will come up within weeks having the roots in today's problems!

Therefore managers must know and manage their people well!
