I would like to point out, we are not projecting maths and science onto nature. But we are trying to understand how nature works and testing our understanding by applying our learning (gathered by research and thinking) from one aspect of nature to the other aspects.

in order to understand the nature/world/universe around us we only have two tools, observation and thinking.

Continuous application of these two has given birth to what we percieve as maths and science. but in effect it is the nature/world or the universe which is doing all the science and maths, far more advanced than what we have deciphered so far!
